Carl Lenwood  Spencer
Carl Lenwood Spencer, age 79 of Martinsville, passed away on August 29, 2017 at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Martinsville on November 30, 1937 to the late Jefferson Green and Burdie Wagner Spencer.

He had worked for the J&J Southeast-Georgia Pacific for over 33 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran from the Vietnam Era and also a member of the Virginia National Guard.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Shirley W. Spencer of the home, two sons, Frankie Spencer of Martinsville and Tracy Spencer of Eden, NC., two step-sons, Chris Boardwine of Myrtle Beach, SC and Kenneth Boardwine of Lexington, NC, a daughter, Melissa Spencer Gardner of Collinsville and a step daughter, Debra Phillips of Ridgeway, a brother, Larry Spencer of Martinsville, two sisters, Loretta Branch of Bassett and Bonnie Clifton of Martinsville, two grandchildren, John Eames and Shayna Eames and three step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.

His service of remembrance will be held graveside on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Roselawn Burial Park with military honors presented by the Martinsville Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home.
